Literature Text
Death sunbathes
in the afternoon,
Its web of shiny
filaments spread wide
to entrap the unwary
blunderer.
Suspended in its trance
of desire, it's fixed
in motionless anticipation.
It awaits the moment
when a careless hope
will enter into oblivion.

Literature
skeleton
light sears
through the chinks of her arched,
regal back.
she is eyeless and smiling,
her ribs a gaunt prison,
her shoulders an altar
eaten by moss.
there is a kind of silent
dignity in her thighs,
the crown of her head
in the way that she lies there
and will not be turned to dust.
Literature
Exhaustion
Exhaustion
I wake, swollen with noon heat.
Half dressed, I stumble,
elbows and toes catching
on the clawed feet of chairs,
the blunt holes of open cupboards.
I sometimes forget my name.
In the kitchen, I pepper the rice
instead of salt. Black flecks surface
in the boiling water,
sea turtles migrating.
If I knew where you went,
I would follow. But all you left behind
was an old sweater, an empty notebook,
an exhaustion,
complete and infinite
as the space around a closed fist.
Literature
lapsed
you've eaten my clairvoyance
and I've nowhere left to turn;
vermin stray like fingers
down my gullet.
"I do not love you"
are five words fit to kill:
I close my teeth over my tongue.

These mellow autumn days seem to suit the spiders.

This is a superb rendering, the spider seems so languid and deadly all at once!
